Nick Deal has extensive experience in communications training, including within the court context, with a varied background as a barrister, trainer, roleplayer, coach, facilitator and professional actor.
Nick worked as a barrister for 7 years in Francis Taylor Building, Chambers of Nicholas Valios QC. He left the Bar to train with The Actors Company, where he received a Postgraduate Diploma in Acting, and went on to work in theatre and radio, as well as corporate role play.
Nick has worked with a number of international law firms in the UK and across Europe – including Addleshaw Goddard, CMS Cameron McKenna, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Simmons & Simmons – and also with the Legal Services Commission and the Ministry of Justice. Nick regularly works with lawyers of all levels of seniority, from senior partners to trainees.
Nick has a particular specialism in facilitating communications training sessions for expert and professional witnesses, helping them to communicate more effectively in court. He has recently designed and delivered highly regarded courses on the impact of the Civil Procedure Reforms on experts and on the giving of concurrent evidence.
Outside of the legal sector, Nick has worked with a wide variety of household-name clients, including Barclays, BBC, BMW, British Airways, Credit Suisse, Deloitte, Deutsche Bank, Ernst & Young, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, KPMG, National Health Service, Pfizer, Rolls-Royce, Scottish Power and Virgin.
