Karl Wilson’s experience as a roleplayer and facilitator includes a diverse background in finance law (specialising in capital markets and derivatives), as well as professional acting.
Karl trained as a lawyer at Linklaters, and as a consultant general counsel he has worked in the legal departments and trading floors of many of the world’s leading international investment banks. He knows what it takes to build successful relationships in pressurised and challenging environments. He has closed thousands of transactions, negotiated contracts, advised on regulatory change projects, taken instructions, and given them.
This experience, over 15 years, has fostered a sophisticated understanding of ‘what it is to be a lawyer’ and given him a commercial focus.
Karl has also trained as a singer at the Royal Academy of Music and received a Postgraduate Degree in Acting from the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. As a professional actor, Karl has worked in television, film and on stage, most recently touring with Olivier Award-winning play King Charles III, during which time he made his professional debut as the Prime Minister at the Birmingham Rep and enjoyed a month-long run at the Sydney Theatre Company.
Since completing PCA law’s comprehensive training programme, Karl’s training experience includes delivering a series of communication skills development programmes at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. His performance ability, combined with his wide-ranging experience as a lawyer, enables him to deliver experiential training in a highly credible and nuanced manner, together with targeted feedback that is tailored to the individual.
