Charlie Swan is a Founding Director of PCA Law, with a diverse background in corporate law, personal communications training, executive coaching and professional West End theatre.
Charlie has trained and coached more than 7,000 lawyers, internationally, at over 60 leading international and national law firms, including 7 of the 10 leading global law firm brands according to Acritas, 2016. Charlie has also worked extensively with leaders (business and legal) in global corporates and FTSE 100 companies, drawing valuable insights and thought-leadership from ‘best-in-class’ organisations across multiple sectors.
Charlie specialises in training lawyers to build successful relationships in pressurised and challenging environments, in order to win new high-value business, work effectively in increasingly global teams and recruit and retain the best talent. Speaking regularly at Executive-level events on these topics, Charlie is passionate about helping lawyers and business service professionals develop the confidence to use their personal communication skills as a source of differentiation in today’s highly competitive market.
Formerly a Senior Associate with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (London and Bangkok), Charlie helps law firms, and their clients, drive commercial growth using outcome-based experiential training techniques and sector-specific knowledge. With more than 17 years immersed in the legal sector, Charlie has fostered a sophisticated understanding of ‘what it is to be a lawyer’ and the modern challenges faced by firms and individuals.
Drawing on a professional acting career that saw Charlie appear at The London Palladium, Her Majesty’s Theatre and Sadlers’ Wells, he is regularly in demand for his delivery of motivating, commercially-focused and nuanced learning experiences, borne out of lawyers’ ‘real world’ challenges, which help them to build on their strengths and refine their skills in a short space of time.
Charlie is a qualified Executive Coach (AoEC Accredited) and regularly coaches Partners and ‘high-potentials’ to develop their leadership, communication and personal impact skills, with a focus on Team Leadership and Management, Business Development, Client Relationship Management and Career Management.
